You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence. Acts 2:28
We live in a society that moves at the speed of light. If we, Christians, aren't careful we'll find ourselves moving at that same hectic pace. We are not called to conform to the pressures of our current society, but to be transformed by the word and influence the greater society at large.
American society is marked by epidemic portions of neglect. Because we move at such a fast pace and constantly increase the demands on ourselves and others, inevitably something or someone is neglected. We simply can't do it all. It is either ourselves, our children, spouse, job, friendships or prayer time that is pushed to the end or our "to do" list.
Typically the first to go are the relationships because they are " in our opinion" discretionary. By that I mean, not essential to our livelihood. If this is your opinion, I beg to differ. Relationships enrich your life and give you a sustaining power to endure. They add spice to our lives that would otherwise be relegated to endless activities. My life has been so enriched by the time spent with the people that I love. If a natural relationship can add this depth to our lives, consider your relationship to God.
I encourage you this week to take out some quality time and spend it with your Heavenly Father. In prayer, just for this week, go into His presence and fellowship with Him. Leave your long list of prayer requests and simple spend time with Him. It is in His presence that our joy is made complete. Could you stand a little joy in your life?...then enter into His presence.
As always...don't be condemned, be encouraged! |
