Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I Corinthians 13:4-7.
Week 10 of the Love Series. As we enter this week our focus is on evil and our appropriate response to evil. As Christians, whose primary focus is to represent Christ and His ways on earth, we consider His response to evil.
When Christ walked the face of this earth he was never delighted at the sight of evil. As compelled by the Spirit, he confronted it, not from emotions, but truth. Truth is the only rebuke to evil.
If you are attempting to address evil that is evident in your life from any other perspective, I guarantee that you have met frustration and failure. Truth is the standard by which all things are measured in the Christians' life. We know that it conquers all. Don't faint at the sight of evil. God has an appointed time in which all things will be judged.
I encourage you this week to not fret or be anxious because of those that do evil (to you or others), even when they seemingly prosper. We are assured that they will soon be cut down and wither. Our command is to continue to trust God and do good (Psalms 37:1-3 NIV).
Be encouraged this week in the face of evil. Don't grow weary in your good works because you will see the judgement of the wicked and be rewarded for your faithfulness.
