Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protect, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I Corinthians 13:4-7.
First off, thank you all for your prayers during our time of grief.
Week 13 of the love series. This week the focus is on trust. Let's level set our understanding of trust. It is defined as reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence, this according to dictionary.reference.com.
We live in a society in which it is very difficult to trust because of uncertainty and the degree of deception. We know that companies are deceptive in their financial reporting; spouses are deceptive in their marriages by engaging in adulterous affairs; children are deceptive with their parents in the types of activities they engage in, and the list continues.
Why does God require us to trust knowing the times that we live in? I think I have the answer...He wants us to trust Him, not man. People change, situations change, but God changes not. He requires us to trust Him with our all. Surely, if you trust Him with your salvation, you ought to trust Him with everything else.
When you completely trust Him, you are assured that He has your best interest at heart. If your are facing a situation where it is difficult to trust the person or the circumstances, then turn it over to God...and have confidence that He will work it out.
I pray that each of you are encouraged to trust as part of your love walk. Remember the object of your trust is not a person or thing, but a God that knows, sees and is above all. Be encouraged!
