Seasons

Writer's picture: Gloria WigginsGloria Wiggins

Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of the LORD. Jeremiah 8:7 NIV

To everything there is a season. Season: 1.a. a time characterized by a particular circumstance or b : a suitable or natural time or occasion  c : an indefinite period of time : source: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary

Your current season is a prerequisite of your next season. It is imperative that you understand what your current season is preparing you for. Don't neglect the things of the Lord in the existing season because you are so anxious to get to the next season. To everything there is a season and the holder of every season is God.  God ordains and controls the season in your life.  Although every season is for a prescribed time; God is not a respecter of time nor is He bound by time. God does not measure time in the same way that man does. The word declares that for God a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day (2 Peter 3:8). So for us to be successful in our current and future seasons, we do not need to be preoccupied with the length of the season, but more with the obedience that we walk in during the season. Our obedience to God is what propels us into the next season. It is our surrender to the will of God so that His purposes might be accomplished.

Because God has a global purpose to reveal our seasons are not independent of another man's season.  Each of us has a unique role in bringing that global purpose to pass.  There is an interdependency among the people of God...we indeed are one body but many members serving the whole body of Christ according to the grace given us (Romans 12:4).

This is a word to encourage you to walk in the season that you are in.  Don't be so eager to get to the next season because God has specific requirements for you to fulfill in the existing season. We must walk in faithfulness. Be encouraged!
