Thanksgiving

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

During this holiday season, let's make it a point to truly be thankful. There is so much in our daily lives to be thankful for that we often take for granted. I read a story once that stated: "I was complaining about not having any shoes to wear, until I met a man with no feet" ...hm mm. Often times we are so focused on what we don't have that we forget to be thankful for what we do have. Every now and then it behooves us to pause and consider all that we have. For example, before you complain about your congested commute to work consider the following: Some people don't have a car to drive; others have a car but no job to drive to; while others have a car and a job, but their health has failed, and they are unable to drive and/or perform the job.

My personal confession - Many times I'm annoyed at the tremendous energy that my children have so I scream "Can you both just sit down and be still". Then I recall that I almost lost both my children - one before birth and the other after birth. So, I am thankful that they are normal, healthy children - full of energy even though it is exasperating at time.

I challenge you this week to pause and consider areas where you can be more thankful. If you stop to consider how your life could have been if it weren't for the Grace of God - this will give rise to thanksgiving.
