The Voice of Faith

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.  “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Mark 11:22,23 NIV

In this passage Jesus is teaching his disciples operating principles of faith. If you recall, on their way to Jerusalem Jesus cursed a fig tree because it didn't have fruit (see Mark 11:12 - 14).  The very next day, as Jesus and the disciples passed by, they noticed the fig tree had withered and were amazed. This became a  teachable moment. Using the withered fig tree as an example, Jesus began to teach about faith.

The principle that Jesus taught, and I highlight today is the voice of faith. Yes...faith has a voice. There are several components to an active/productive/fruitful faith. The first is that it must be in God, not man, not your ability, but squarely in God and His abilities. Secondly, faith is in your heart. Believing is not an intellectual exercise but originates and resides in the heart. If one thinks about it, much of what we are believing God for makes absolutely no logical sense.  And lastly, faith speaks. 2 Corinthians 4:13 states I believed; therefore, I have spoken. Key to your faith is your voice. Once you hear the voice of God pertaining to your life and/or a particular situation, you must join your voice with His and began to declare/speak His words over your situation. That is the essence of a faith confession...agreement with God.

So, I remind you, to speak to your mountains and tell them to be removed, don't murmur, complain or call your closest friend for a shoulder to cry on...open your mouth and speak! Faith has a voice...use it for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.

Be encouraged.
