Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 In the NIV translation of the Holy Bible, trust is cited 87 distinct times. Apparently our ability to trust is key in our relationship with God. In the above scripture, we are admonished to trust in the Lord with our whole heart. I find it interesting that in the same sentence we are warned to lean not to our own understanding.
This leads me to believe that a major barrier to trust is our ability, desire or need (however you classify it) to understand. In order to really trust God, we must be willing to abandon our reasoning. I can testify that one of the major hindrances to my faith (of which trust is a twin sister) is my "need to know". Before I can believe God totally, I want to know what His plan is in the area that I am 'supposedly' trusting Him in.
This is a simple, but powerful word of encouragement to all "Believers". Remember you are called "Believers" not "Reasoners".
This week focus on trusting God. How? By allowing the prompting of the Holy Spirit to lead you. This is the year of new beginnings and I strongly believe that God is doing a new thing in each of us. Don't allow your minds' reasoning to discourage you from participating in the new direction that God is leading you into. Trust God to establish you in His perfect will and plan for your life and as always...Be encouraged! |
