Validation

But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man. John 2:24, 25

We live in a codependent society. Sadly, because this disfunction is so widespread, it is no longer viewed as dysfunctional but accepted as normal. Codependency simply means that we are in a vicious cycle of pleasing men in an effort to receive their validation of our self worth. Well, as Christians, our only validation should come from God and our identity in Christ. We have been set apart and no longer operate as the world does.

The opening scripture states that Jesus did not entrust himself to man. Why...because he knew what was in them. We must have the same or similar attitude. We are Christians which means we should emulate Christ in thought, attitude and deeds.

There are too many people pleasers in the kingdom of God which is causing us to compromise His will. This is a dangerous position to be in because we fail to operate in full, complete obedience...partial obedience is disobedience.  God desires our obedience more than our sacrifices. Recall that Moses was kept out of the promise land because he struck the rock rather than speaking to it.

This week I encourage you to reexamine your relationship to man. Make sure that your greatest desire is to please God rather than man. In order to do this we must be spiritually attuned to the voice of God and understand what He requires of us. What He approves of.  As always, don't be condemned...be encouraged!
