Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30
This scripture is taken from the virtuous woman passage. There are many attributes described for this woman. She is diligent, works well with her hands, tends to her family, her husband has great confidence in her and he is praised and honored at the city gate because of her.
The weekly Truth Points is solely distributed to women - some married, some single. However, I believe that this word is for both status of woman.
We find in today's society that many woman are caught in a vicious cycle of contending for the praise and confidence of their family, friends, church leadership, coworkers, etc. We discover in this scripture that a virtuous woman or one of noble character is not praised for the things she does, but her reverence and fear of God.
The requirements of God are not the same as those of man. We have been created to serve God's purposes not mans. So in a complicated society, where the demands never cease, we need to be reminded of Whose we are are who we truly serve. It is from Him that we strive to receive the highest praise and in seeking Him and His kingdom first He promises to add all other things to us (Matthew 6:33).
This week I encourage you to return to your first love. Stop seeking the approval and applaud of man and seek to understand what you believe God is requiring of you. I believe that our lives have become so complicated because we strive to please too many people. Seek to simplify your life by setting your heart and focus on God and what He requires.
As always, don't be condemned...be encouraged!
